the last event of the year didn't end well. i was 41min off my target time of 4hr15min for walking the marathon. according to some sources - "our completion is the result of having the courage to start." so my consolation will be giving myself a pat on the back for having the guts to do the marathon again after 11 years (i was 15yrs old when i last did the marathon).
trainings have been going well since the start of the year. i am feeling lighter and more fluid with my technique. along the way, i have also discovered new training venues (for e.g. the hill at biopolis) and i am even planning to incorporate my training programme into my daily commutation between office and home.
as always, my resolution for the year - qualify for sea games, break the 5okm record and call it a day. :)
with the xmas sales coming, i have compiled a list of things to buy;
1. a pair of working shoes
2. a pair of nike racers
3. nike compression tights
4. shirts and polo tees
5. a pair of jeans
my organisation has an incentive scheme to encourage us to exercise. for this activity, we have to choose between running 2.4km and walking 2km which i chose the latter.
given the heavy downpour last saturday, it was the best day to sleep. just as i thought that i would be wading like a duck, the rain stopped with wind blowing at regular intervals.
i started my first lap at 1:40min which was a promising but difficult to sustain pace. the next 2 laps were maintained at 2:00min and the pace dropped further as my legs got heavier in the last 2 laps. Thanks to my deficiency in pace judgement, i finished the walk in 10:40min.
the key to fast walking comes from total body relaxation and it's something that is hard to master.
1 more month to the marathon.
