nike human race

last saturday, i squeezed with 60 000 participants at the nike human race. instead of running with the crowd, i decided to racewalk the entire distance under 60min. it is not a difficult target to meet but weaving through the human jam can be a challenge.

with irresistable babes hovering around, i took frequent glance at my heart rate monitor to keep within my planned pace of under 6:00/km. the most painful part of the race was at the 5km water point where people were clustering like as if they were in a pub. sensing the painfulness of drinking from that station, i decided to give it a miss. i used to be able to compete without drinking for 20km but age has caught up with me and i can be just as thirsty as my car. :)

after 10km of mini fartlek, i stopped my watch at 59:08min. it has been a while since i raced a distance with such a crowd. i enjoyed the entire event but nothing beats the good old big walk. *new paper please bring it back*.

my ex is crossing the line. despite making clear to her that we should just remain as friends, she is maintaining her stand. how can i ever convince her to give up?
